When splitting pipes, the new ID for the resulting pipe is based on the ID and Description tab in the model's Preferences. Instead of going with those settings, it would be nice to have an option to enable that would instead take the original ID and allow you to add a prefix or suffix. So if you are splitting pipe 12345, you could choose to change the new pipe ID to be 12345_1, and any others could be increased incrementally as well.
Perhaps it could be a check box next to "ID Suggestion" that you can enable in the Preferences, or a few options added to the Pipe Split Candidates interface that become available when you select "Join Pipe-Split Candidates" that would allow you to choose a prefix/suffix and increment.
