Isolation Scenario Using Dummy Valves Which Do Not Split Pipes

Can you put a valve on top of a pipe (not splitting the pipe) and then it closes the section? And then anything enclosed to these multiple valves will be isolated? This is going to be useful for modelling of isolation scenarios

HI Grant, I agree that we can close the pipe by using initial status. However, isolating two pipes and then leaving active watermains in between will result in simulation error..

Hi Nathan if you are already looking into this tool of isolating the watermains based on GIS, that would be great!

Our Apps like UDF and CAM already support the use of GIS valves sitting on top of pipes that are not split.
Are you looking for a simple tool to select any pipe or Junction and find and close the isolating valves based on GIS for a quick simulation analysis? This is definitely something we're looking into for the future.

There is no need for an isolation/dummy valve to close a pipe in InfoWater Pro. You can use Initial Status = Closed or a Control Statement to set the pipe to closed which achieves the same thing as an isolation valve with no need to split the pipe.
