When splitting a pipe by inserting a node, the new pipe inherits the attributes of the original pipe (diameter, roughness, zone, material, etc). However, if the pipe has a wave speed assigned for surge modeling, the new pipe does not inherit the wave speed. This is not consistent behavior and can result in the incorrect wave speed being used for the new pipes. The user has to spend additional time and effort correcting the wave speed for these pipes. The new pipe should inherit the wave speed from the original pipe.
I confirmed and agree this looks like an oversight. We will treat it as a defect and plan to resolve it in an upcoming release. Thank you for logging it!
