I am currently in the process of digitising old IAS plans within ICM. Every time I click on an object to assign it a system and surface within the User Defined Properties, I have to click the + symbol to open the properties. This has to be a very accurate click due to the size of the + symbol. This would be a big time saver when carrying out processes that are already click intensive.

Hi Jason, I couldn't agree more with your comment and I apologise for taking so long to get back to you.
I am doing a lot of catchup nowadays with this idea platform and will take your comment onboard moving forward.
Hi Samer - thank you very much for the response on this. A big challenge with ICM is always just being aware of the functionality within the software, and knowing what things are possible, and what things can't be done, and what background settings can be changed, and what is stuck the way it is. Until your response below, I had never realised that there were any layout settings options for the Object Properties Window. Playing with this a bit more, I can see that there is tickbox in the "Object Properties Windows Settings" to allow users to disable the default view of "showing properties in groups" - this also has the desired effect of making the user fields immediately visible and not hidden away. So it looks like we do have multiple existing options for Patrick's original request.
I presume by the fact that it took over eight months to get an answer back on this query that these setting are probably not widely known about by many people. Potentially going forwards, it might be a good idea to get someone very knowledgeable about the software to cast their eyes over posts on this forum within a week or two of them going up, to check for situations like this where features already exist?
Hi Patrick, following a further deliberations with the development team to discuss the feasibility of increasing the size of the clickable area, it was suggested that you can:
1. Double click anywhere in the bold title (e.g. "User defined properties") line to open and close the section. This would avoid needing to click on the plus as it does the same just like in Windows Explorer (see attached video)
2. Edit the layout, open the section and save the layout with the section opened. You would need a custom layout for each object type you want to digitise like this, but you can save them. For example it would be possible to save a set of custom layouts for the "Digitising" work and easily load them when required, these layouts could customise the field order too.
Thank you Patrick, we will engage in consultations with a wider array of stakeholders to gauge their interest and gather additional perspectives on the proposed feature.
Should we observe a substantial level of enthusiasm and demand, we will be inclined to advance the status of this suggestion to "Under Consideration." This stage will involve a more detailed UX analysis and preliminary planning to understand how this feature could be seamlessly integrated into the software.
This may help a little bit but would still require the precise click and movement of the mouse.
If this can not be a toggle'able feature then if it could be made to be open by default that would help.
However, having all the properties for objects toggle'able would mean all the properties that are not needed can be closed then just have the 'user defined properties' open so you don't even have to scroll down in the properties pain to get to the 'user defined properties'.
Thank you for the suggestion and thanks to those who voted. I totally agree with your suggestion.
Do you think that making the symbol (+ and -) a little bit bigger would address this request?
Aha! Yes, I have to do this ALL of the time as I hid data in the user text and number fields. Thanks for suggesting this!
