Utilities for comparing HGLs between scenarios are limited, so sometimes you are forced to export to dwg to compare more directly. The export linework is kind of a mess - no legend, no layer naming. I would request that the linework be exported with layer names reflecting HGL, EGL, ground surface, pipe, etc. Given that this is an Autodesk product, I'd like to see improvement in these utilities.
