The minimum 1‑minute hydraulic timestep in InfoWorks WS Pro prevents realistic modelling of fast‑acting control valves that respond within seconds. This leads to overstated burst volumes and flooding impacts.
Workaround:
Users currently scale system storage and interpret each timestep as 1 second, then manually adjust outputs. This is approximate and does not represent short‑duration transient effects.
Note:
Even with sub‑minute timesteps, full transient impacts would not be accurately simulated within the WS Pro hydraulic engine.
Requested Enhancement:
Primary: Support hydraulic timesteps down to ~1 second.
Alternative: Add more detailed control‑logic options within the transient simulation engine to model rapid valve actions without timestep scaling.
Benefit:
Improves representation of rapid control responses and removes the need for artificial scaling workarounds.
