Product: InfoWorks ICM Ultimate Module: ARR Storm Generator Request Type: Feature Enhancement Submitted by: Digital Water Solutions (Reseller)
We request the addition of a user‑editable configuration field for ARR/BOM data source URLs within the ARR Storm Generator. This would allow customers to update endpoints themselves when external data providers (e.g., Bureau of Meteorology) change URLs, without requiring a full software upgrade.
ICM Ultimate currently relies on hard‑coded URLs to retrieve ARR datasets hosted by the Bureau of Meteorology and ARR Data Hub. When BoM updates or restructures these endpoints, ARR Storm Generator becomes unable to download required data. Customers are then forced to:
log support tickets
wait for a patched release
perform a full software upgrade
This creates unnecessary downtime and frustration, especially for users working on time‑critical modelling projects
Because the ARR data sources are external and not controlled by Autodesk, URL changes are inevitable. The lack of a user‑editable endpoint means:
ARR Storm Generator fails when URLs change
customers cannot self‑resolve the issue
Autodesk support load increases
customers must upgrade ICM even when the only issue is a broken URL
project delivery is delayed
This is a disproportionate impact for a very small technical change.
Add a user‑configurable URL field within ICM Ultimate for ARR/BOM data endpoints. This could be implemented as:
a field in ARR Storm Generator settings
an advanced configuration panel
a simple editable text file (e.g., XML/JSON)
a registry entry exposed through the UI
The system would simply validate that the URL returns the expected ARR dataset format.
Customers can immediately fix broken ARR downloads
No need for emergency patches or forced upgrades
Reduced support burden for Autodesk
ARR Storm Generator becomes resilient to external changes
Improved customer satisfaction and continuity of modelling workflows
This enhancement is small in scope but high in value. Allowing users to update ARR/BOM URLs themselves would significantly improve reliability and reduce support overhead whenever external data providers modify their endpoints.
We strongly recommend Autodesk consider this improvement for an upcoming release of ICM Ultimate.
