upgrade the embedded Ruby interpreter

It is a pity that there is no way to upgrade the embedded Ruby interpreter.

Unfortunately, that old version is not compatible with many of the useful Ruby Gems – severely limiting its usefulness.

Do you have plans to include a more recent version than 2.4.3 (which was released over 7 years ago)? If not, could I ask that you please upgrade it to the latest version for the next release?

It would potentially help drive more sales and increase market share if it is a factor in people’s decisions about what software to use for urban network modelling etc, so that is another good reason for upgrading.

Thank you for the suggestion and thanks to those who voted.

I am moving this to "Under Consideration" a stage that involves a more detailed analysis, including a feasibility study, resource allocation assessment, and preliminary planning for upgrading Ruby interpreter.

We will keep you updated with the progress using the comments section of this platform.

I voted for this but IMO, the current Ruby code is not fully utilized. Do you have some examples of how a newer Ruby interpreter that uses the Ruby parameters' of ICM would be much better? Ruby Gems has often been mentioned int he past.
